About the Organization
Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) is a developmental and humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization with main mission to reduce poverty and empower people to realize the fullest of their potentials, without compromising posterity. SHUMAS is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented livelihood Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer to play a critical role in our livelihood projects in the southwest region of Cameroon precisely in Kumba. This position will ensure we are effectively tracking our progress, learning from our experiences, and maximizing our impact on the lives of people benefiting from the communities.
Job Summary:
The MEAL Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems for our projects. The successful candidate will have a strong background in project writing, monitoring, and evaluation, with expertise in MEAL tools and methodologies. The position is full time onsite opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
Ø MEAL System Design: Develop and implement MEAL systems for projects, including designing monitoring frameworks, indicators, and data collection tools. Also follow on donor MEAL and Templates and tools
Ø Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting for projects, ensuring data quality and accuracy. Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess project progress, identify areas for improvement, and document lessons learned.
Ø Prepare and submit timely and high-quality reports, including progress reports, evaluation reports, and other documentation as required.
Ø MEAL Tools and Methodologies: Stay up-to-date with best practices and new developments in MEAL, and apply this knowledge to improve project design and implementation.
Ø Write project proposals and submit to the organization for review and validation
Ø Research funding opportunities and prepare the R and D for the opportunities
Requirements:
Ø Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social sciences, development studies, statistics, those with PMP and MEAL cortication’s have added advantage
Ø Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in MEAL, project writing, monitoring, and evaluation.
Skills:
Ø Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ø Proficiency in MEAL tools and software (e.g., data management systems, statistical software, Kobo.
Ø Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Personal Qualities:
Ø Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ø Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ø Strong time management and reporting skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ø Experience with donor-funded projects: Experience working with donor-funded projects and reporting requirements.
Ø Knowledge of MEAL frameworks: Familiarity with MEAL frameworks and tools (e.g., logical framework, theory of change).
Ø Data analysis software: Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, Python).
