North West Governor Installs New SHUMAS Director General

“With the authority vested in me, I now install you as the Director General of SHUMAS…” declared Adolphe Lele L'Afrique, North West Governor, to a cheering audience as Mrs. Billian Nyuykighan Njodzeka officially became the second Director General of Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) in over three decades.

Having served as Acting Director General for the past year following the passing of her predecessor, Mrs. Njodzeka has demonstrated exceptional leadership and continuity. Under her guidance, SHUMAS has continued in its exponential growth, strengthening longstanding partnerships and forging new collaborations.

Proven Impact Across Key Sectors

The organization has successfully implemented multiple projects across strategic areas, including:

  • Education & Environment
  • WASH & Nutrition
  • Food Security, Peace, and Protection

Her tenure has also been marked by strong team stability, retaining the majority of staff while strategically bringing in new talent to further reinforce the organization’s impact.

"A Square Peg in a Square Hole"

Her official installation on Saturday, April 19, is, in the words of the North West Governor, “a square peg in a square hole”—a fitting recognition of competence, dedication, and proven leadership.

The ceremony brought together key stakeholders and dignitaries, including:

  • The 2nd Deputy Mayor of Bamenda III
  • The Divisional Officer of Mezam
  • The Fon of Nkwen
  • The Fon of Ngembu
  • The Fon of Kochi
  • Partners from the financial, humanitarian, and development sectors
