SHUMAS and BSFA alleviate classroom congestion at St. Paul’s Nursery and Primary School Ntahkekah.
Pupils of St. Paul Nursery and Primary School Ntahkekah, Nkwen have reason to celebrate as their learning environment receives a remarkable upgrade, thanks to the generosity of SHUMAS and Building Schools for Africa (BSFA) UK. This according to many is a clear example of the saying “ From grass to grace”.
The school, which has struggled with small, partitioned classrooms for over three years, will now see a transformation as new classrooms, along with benches, tables, and chairs, are added to alleviate congestion. Thursday, May 30th, 2024, marked a momentous occasion as SHUMAS and Building Schools for Africa handed over some classrooms, 54 benches, 6 tables, and 6 chairs to St. Paul's Nursery and Primary School Ntahkekah, Bamenda, in the Northwest Region of Cameroon.
The diocese and Parish Priest expressed profound gratitude for the significant impact this will have on education in the region.
The Director General highlighted SHUMAS' nationwide impact, having constructed and equipped over 1000 classrooms, emphasizing the organization's commitment to improving educational facilities across the country. Amidst the joyous occasion, the school administration, teachers, and pupils expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the timely intervention that will significantly improve the learning environment for the pupils.
SHUMAS adopts a participatory approach in project implementation, emphasizing the involvement of the benefiting community. In this model, the community provides local materials while SHUMAS supports with industrial materials and labor. This collaborative effort ensures that the community has a stake in the project and fosters a sense of ownership and pride in the improved facilities.
