A Legacy That Lives On. An Impact That Speaks. A Vision That Leads.
Since its founding in 1993 by the visionary Mfoormi Stephen Ndzerem Njodzeka, SHUMAS has grown from a small community initiative into a nationally and internationally recognized force for good. Headquartered in Mile Six Nkwen, Bamenda, the organization now operates across all 10 regions of Cameroon—bringing hope, dignity, and opportunity to thousands of vulnerable people.
From its formal recognition in 1997 to attaining NGO status and consultative recognition with the United Nations ECOSOC, SHUMAS has remained grounded in a clear and powerful mission: improving lives, reducing poverty, and building the capacity of communities to thrive sustainably.
Over the years, this commitment has translated into real, measurable impact; 29,756+ children screened in 2025 alone, over 6,000 individuals supported with food assistance, and 6,010+ people reached through gender-based violence awareness and response initiatives.
Beyond the numbers above, thousands of lives have been transformed through education, health services, water and sanitation, protection, and livelihood programs, with over 31 divisions reached nationwide. Women have been empowered, children have returned to learning, and communities have regained strength and resilience in the face of crisis.
Today, the vision continues stronger than ever. Through strategic partnerships with organizations such as Building Schools for Africa, UNICEF, World Food Programme, IRC, DRC and UNFPA, SHUMAS is expanding its reach and deepening its impact, working toward a future where every individual, regardless of circumstance, can live with dignity, security, and hope.
From then to now, the journey has been remarkable and the future holds even greater promise.
As we celebrate 29 years of legal existence today, Join us. Support the mission. Be part of the change.
