In an inspiring step to amplify the voices and enhance joint efforts towards women empowerment and curbing gender related issues in our community, SHUMAS alongside 80 women-led organizations from the North West and South West regions convened for a pivotal networking meeting on June 19th 2026 at Buea. The primary objective of this gathering was to provide a collaborative space where these diverse groups could reflect on the strategies to build a unified, strong network which enables women to connect, empower and advocate. The initiative aims to amplify the collective impact of these organizations as they address community challenges. This strategic convergence marks a significant milestone in transforming how grassroots women’s advocacy operates within these regions.
The high-profile event drew key stakeholders, highlighting its immense structural importance to regional development. In attendance were the current Regional Delegates of the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and the Family (MINPROFF) for both the North West and South West regions, alongside the former Regional Delegate of MINPROFF for the South West. A crucial highlight of the meeting was an expert presentation delivered by the coordinator for gender-based violence from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), who served as the key facilitator. This presentation underscored the profound importance of network creation, offering a roadmap for sustainable collaboration and collective advocacy.
This landmark initiative was organized through the collaborative efforts of Wa Cameroon and Teen Alive, two dedicated organizations driving social change. The event was made possible through the technical and organizational support of the UNFPA, alongside essential financing provided by the Woman eh wuna place deh Project.
